It's our birthday!
April 28th marks the one-year anniversary of Laptops & Smalltalk and what a year it's been!
A year ago today, we launched our blog and website with an inspiring interview with Portland Gear's Marcus Harvey on how he used the power of Instagram to build and grow his business.
To celebrate our new venture, we threw a launch party on the rooftop of the Society Hotel and brought together a panel of designers & industry influencers to share their insight on how to build a successful fashion business in Portland's and fashion industry.
Sharing our love of business and fashion marketing & PR has always been extremely important to us so, we launched two eBooks, "Building a Fashion Brand" and "Digital Fashion," taught three sold out, in-person workshops and accepted the opportunity to teach a mentor session with the FashioNXT UpNxt emerging designers.
Word of Laptops & Smalltalk grew and we were honored to be featured in the Portland Business Journal, Portland Monthly Magazine and accept the opportunity to speak on a panel for the Portland City Club moderated by then, the First Lady of Portland, Nancy Hales.
We got social and hosted a networking event at By the Collective giving designers and industry professionals the opportunity to connect, collab, and build their networks.
We expanded our team and welcomed two interns, we launched a podcast, "Crash Course Fashion" and most recently, we hosted our first ever Sustainable Fashion Forum during Design Week Portland where we brought together a panel of sustainable designers to speak about the obstacles and opportunities faced in the effort to create ethically-made and fashion forward clothing moderated Kerri Ulloa of Eileen Fisher's Fisher Found. Following the panel we hosted our first fashion show featuring 14 local designers.
What an amazing year this has been! Thank you to everyone that has played a role big or small in the growth of Laptops & Smalltalk. From attending events, reading the blog, sharing our events on Facebook, telling a friend, sponsoring an event, we couldn't have done it without YOU!
Cheers to another year!
